It's small and portable, and overall pretty nice. If you don't want to bring your regular kalimba out to play but feel the urge to, this one is perfect. Plus it's quieter than a regular kalimba so you won't be the center of attention when you play.
Plus it could be a good starter one for kids. The sound is sweet, and like I said earlier it's not as loud as a normal one. Over all, pretty good!
I had bought this little thumb Kalimba as a gift for a preschooler who had enjoyed my 17-key. She is able to wear it around her neck and it was small enough that should be able to make it play notes clearly with no issues. Quiet enough not to drive her mother crazy, but clear enough that she can make music. They also sent a little bonus decorative beaded charm.
My 10 year old niece loves playing this. Sent me video of her song she made up. Super easy and addictive .... way better than a fidget spinner and every combination sounds on purpose and not annoying like when a kid is learning to play complicated instruments.
love that it is heavy and solid wood, and well-made tines, for such a low Price I thought it would be more of a "toy". using the thumbnails gives a better tone than flat thumbs. When I press it against a flat table or gently onto my skin drum it can be very loud :) if I hold in in my hands and stroke gently its subtle like a dream feeling .. so very good use in sound journey work and nice to be able to wear it round my neck and bring magical sounds at random times in my day :)
I got this for my niece upcoming birthday. Very very cute. The wood is high quality. The sound is not as loud as the big one (well of course lol). My niece love my 17 keys kalimba but it was too big for her hands so I think this one will be perfect for her. It came promptly and in great condition.
It's really cute and made me want to get a bigger one. I looked up songs online and it's pretty easy to use. Not for the fat fingered, though, so I have to use my nails to pluck the keys.
